Witness

Terracotta eyes look out from the wall. Some have the names of those enslaved by the Wallaces. They flow around textile self-portraits of the artist, a cyanotyped page from her great grandmother’s scrapbook, and iconic animal images. They look out upon the visitors, holding them in their collective gaze, demanding accountability.

Ceramic, cyanotype and solar fast prints on fabric, found handerchief, cotton thread.
